Privacy policy

Salsa Loop · last updated October 6, 2026

In short: Salsa Loop doesn't collect personal data. There's no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. What you create stays on your phone, unless you choose to publish it to the public library.

What stays on your phone

The videos you practice, your loops (their times, names and cues), speeds and settings are stored only on your device. We have no server that receives them. Deleting the app deletes them.

YouTube

Salsa Loop plays videos with YouTube's official embedded player and loads video titles and thumbnails from YouTube. When a video plays, YouTube (Google) receives the requests your phone makes to it, as it does when you watch YouTube anywhere else. That is covered by Google's privacy policy and the YouTube Terms of Service. Salsa Loop doesn't send YouTube any information about you.

Spotify

When you share or paste a Spotify song link, Salsa Loop asks Spotify (open.spotify.com) for that song's public page to read its title and artist, then searches YouTube for the same song. Only the song link is sent; Salsa Loop doesn't sign in to Spotify or read anything else from your Spotify account. Spotify's handling of that request is covered by the Spotify Privacy Policy.

Sharing loops and routines

A shared loop or routine is a link. Everything it carries (video, times, speed, names and cues) is in the part after the #, which your browser never sends to a server: the page that opens it runs only on your device. That page shows the videos' thumbnails, which load from YouTube. Opening the link in Salsa Loop adds the loops on your phone.

The public library

Publishing a loop or routine to the library is your choice, each time. What you publish is stored on our server (run by Vercel and Upstash for Sooties LLC) and shown to everyone: the title, style and level, the YouTube video and times, names and cues, and the display name you type, if any. Please don't publish personal information. Your phone keeps a private key so you can unpublish it again (Library → Mine), and we remove what breaks the library rules.

To limit spam and to count how many dancers saved an item, the server keeps a one-way hash of the network address a request came from, for at most a year. It can't be turned back into the address. Browsing the library sends nothing about you.

Sharing into the app

When you share a video or song from another app to Salsa Loop, only the shared link is passed to Salsa Loop, on your phone.

Purchases

The one-time unlock is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; Salsa Loop only asks your phone whether this Apple ID has unlocked it, and remembers the answer on your phone. We never see your name, Apple ID or payment details.

Children

Salsa Loop doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
